Privacy
Principles
SAGOMEEN sticks to three rules: collect only what the platform needs, say what it is used for, and let you retrieve or erase your data at any time. The applicable framework is West African — the ECOWAS Supplementary Act on the protection of personal data and the Guinean law attached to it. The European regulation is not our reference.
Data collected
- Account: email address, publicly displayed username, city (optional).
- Reviews: rating, emotion, comment, date of visit, photos (optional).
- Reports: category, description, geographic position (optional).
- Audience measurement: pages viewed, where the visit came from, device type and language, as well as a few actions on the site — opening the review form, tapping a listing’s phone number or website, choosing a map filter, signing up, changing language… — without cookies and without ever recording what you type. Your location is never stored: only whether geolocation was allowed or refused. Your IP address is never recorded, and the visit identifier changes every day. Kept for thirteen months. Nothing is measured if your browser sends the “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal.
- Technical: session cookies necessary for the site to work. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
What it is used for
Your data makes the platform work — publishing a review, finding your profile, notifying you — and feeds the aggregated indicators that are SAGOMEEN’s reason for existing: the perceived quality of services, neighbourhood by neighbourhood. The identifiers we keep serve that purpose and no other: tying a review to an account is what makes it possible to spot fakes and to avoid counting the same voice twice. They are neither sold, nor rented, nor passed on for commercial or advertising purposes. What is published is always aggregated, never nominative.
Your rights
Export your data
Download all your data (profile, reviews, reports) in JSON format from your profile page.
Delete your account
Permanently delete your account and all your contributions from your profile page. This cannot be undone.
Profile visibility
Your username is public. Your email address and personal data are never exposed publicly.
Security
Data is stored in a PostgreSQL database, encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access to the data goes through the API, which checks permissions on every request. Passwords are hashed, never stored in clear text.
Error reports
When a page or the API hits a technical error, a report may be sent to our error-tracking service (Sentry): the error message, the page concerned, the browser and operating system. These reports contain no cookies, passwords or form content, and are used only to fix failures. Your browsing is never recorded.
Cookies
The platform only uses session cookies necessary for authentication and operation. No advertising tracking cookie is set. The application can be installed as a PWA without third-party cookies.
Retention
Your reviews and contributions are kept as long as your account is active. When your account is deleted, your personal data is erased and your reviews anonymised. Anonymised data may be kept for statistical purposes, without any identifier.
Contact
For any question about your data, write to us. You can also exercise your rights of access, rectification and erasure directly from your profile.
